The intent of this blog is to share the adventures and struggles that come with raising up two babies with all of you who happen upon this blog. To start, however, I wanted to write a short blurb about a struggle of my own; unrelated to my kids!
As a kid I had a lot of aspirations about what I wanted to be when I grew up; an astronaut, a soldier, a physical therapist, an Olympic swimmer, a pop star, etc. Once I reached adulthood it really settled with me that I wanted a marriage like my parents have and to be a mother. I was very fortunate to find the perfect man and those dreams came true!
Fast forward nearly three years into my marriage and I have two kids. It really is a blessing each and every day. On the other hand, I found myself lacking success outside the home. At the end of each day I had a clean house and a loving family but no challenges, goals or aspirations. My entrepreneurial spirit has been egging me to do something about it for quite some time.
Back to the present day; this new business adventure! I have always enjoyed sewing and I REALLY enjoy sewing for babies. A little handmade business on the side is the perfect gig to occupy myself while I stay home and raise my cuties. What a struggle it has been to get to this point.
IT IS HARD. Each step along the way has been a battle with myself. What if I fail? What if no one is interested in what I am selling? What if I am wasting my time? Even worse, what if I am wasting my family`s hard earned money? The self-doubt goes on and on. For months I allowed myself to make excuses.
Then a change happened. Each Sunday I had been sitting in church listening to sermons about being FEAR-LESS. Each Sunday I pondered what my life would look like if I had a little less fear in my life. After many, many Sundays I feel like wisdom the Pastor had been imparting on us about how God intended us to live a fearless life finally sunk in. Fear was keeping me from starting this business, but no more! I was out of excuses and it was time to just start having that life I pondered about in Church.
I want to leave you all with some words of wisdom from my Pastor, Stephen Brown. Hopefully they will resonate with you as much as they did with me.
"Faith will take you where fear will never go."
So, with that being said, welcome to briar&boone.
